One of the most disturbing things I've come to learn about the pharmaceutical industry is that they create compounds first, not knowing at all what the chemical or "drug" is to be used for. They then test it on innocent animals to SEE what it does. If it happens to make you tired, well then they would market that as a sleep aid if not too many other side effects happened while taking it. They very rarely ever know what new creation will do. At best a vague idea, like an analog

I will never be able to understand how someone in the right state of mind could ever tear down such a beautiful, thought-out, elegant, high quality and well maintained building. That's a huge shame and a huge loss for human history, art and architecture.

I don't know how to describe how I feel seeing and having known what was mall culture back in the 90s. It's kind of sad because most had really amazing vibes while they were booming only to fall into what they are today while we shop online but also yearn for something similar. Those places were really spectacular back in the day. Stroll around, nice calming music, shop and see a bit of people watching and admiring the atmosphere.

i searched this up on youtube cause i was curious about this mall and see if i could remember some things. i grew up in alexandria , 2014-2017 the mall was always so backrooms vibe. everything walled off it never felt like a mall. My favorite memory was when my father bought me some earrings from macys and i slid them down the escalator rail. Not sure why did. I truly did love this mall and i wish people would have saved the mall. truly had some of the best memories there.🩷 thank you for this.

This has to be the nicest abandoned powerplant I've seen till now. It's in such a good shape, it could open almost immediately as a museum. The brickwork, the details and the old control panels are amazing and it's wonderful that they didn't drywalled it up or modernized it too much like so many other places. But oh well, a shame that they destroy it like so many other old and forgotten places. They do not only destroy a building, they destroy a piece of history. Sad.

This facility is reminding me a great deal of "Bell Works", an office complex used by AT&T/Lucent for a number of years that was built out in Homdel, New Jersey.. Similar early 80's style architecture. Fortunately, Bell Works hasn't been demolished but was converted for commercial use and is still open to the public. My father used to work there and I remember visiting there decades ago. The facility was actually used in the series "Severance" which was very cool to see. My father has since passed, but my aunt and uncle and I still like to visit Bell Works for nostalgia.

Just think of all that wood and marble and how long it would have taken to form / grow. All for what? Money. It's a shame there isn't more value on these resources. And of course the only way they saw to make this money was to destroy and rebuild. If they put time into investing into the building by maybe dividing it up to appeal to smaller business or or turn it into awesome condos.

Let's get things straight guys. This plant built the hand-made prototype for all GM car divisions post WW2. Not sure about before WW2. Cadillac still offered its magnificent and very expensive limousines and as the American economy grew after the war, so did Cadillac sales. Fleetwood (Fisher-Fleetwood or Plant 18) in Delray was very busy and the special work it took to build limousines was slowing things down. I think it was 1955 when the decision was taken to move limousine production to P 21. Because the men here still had many old skills, literally making things by hand and having its own complete trim fabrication department it was the ideal place to build the exclusive Fleetwood 75 Limousine (glass partition) and Sedan (no partition). It was a slow job, again I think only two 75s were completed each day. When a 75 body was completed it was plugged into a system to run checks on it electrically. They also had a rain storm booth where the cars were tested for leaks. It was noteworthy that this place had two huge freight elevators to get completed prototype cars and Fleetwood 75 bodies to street level. The bodies were wrapped in padded bags before being loaded into closed trailers units then delivered to Cadillac's Clark Street plant. These cars were the absolute zenith of American automobile manufacturing. Truly the Standard of the World. I know a Rolls-Royce dealer in England that tried to buy a '66 Fleetwood 75 that was ten years old (just 23,000 miles) off a client of my Father, the technicians said it was the most superb piece of quality construction they'd seen. Impressive.

Two guys who weren’t yet born in the ‘80s telling us how everything looks so ‘80s. You’re wrong. If there’s anything that was so ‘80s, it’s that tacky glass block. Looks cheap as hell and completely out of place compared to the bookmatched marble sheets. Lots of great material that hopefully will be salvaged before demo.
